Magnetic Engineer
Must be able to administer test procedures to ensure quality and functionality of design. The role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure designs meet functionality, reliability, and cost requirements.
Reports to Engineering Manager
Responsible for maintaining comprehensive documentation for items including, but not limited to, generation detailed engineering drawings, Bill of Materials, test reports, and product validation plans
Create innovative electromechanical designs for products or systems, considering factors such as function, cost, manufacturability, and ease of maintenance. Use computer-aided design (CAD) software to produce detailed 3D models, and technical drawings of components or assemblies.
Design, develop and specify manufacturing processes for new and existing product designs
Supports the transition of the product from concept to production
Ensure designs comply with industry standards, regulations, and safety requirements.
Prepare technical documentation, specifications, and reports for designs, test procedures, and results.
Works with shop floor to resolve manufacturing issues. Train manufacturing personnel in new and existing processes
Interprets customer requirements, both verbal and written, in order to meet their needs
Provides detailed technical specifications and cost estimates to sales team for quoting. Coordinates with the sales team to develop pricing and product design.
Manages several projects at one time.
Creates product design for all industrial magnetic equipment including but not limited to mill grade magnets, bipolar magnets, quad magnet systems, spider magnet systems, sweepers, and other products
Evaluate existing and new designs to reduce product manufacturing costs, improve quality and support on-time deliveries.
Work closely with interdisciplinary teams including electrical engineers, manufacturing engineers, and product managers to integrate electromechanical designs into overall product development.
Identify opportunities for design optimization, cost reduction, and performance improvement through analysis and iteration. Works with suppliers to reduce material costs. Troubleshoot issues, identify root causes and provide effective engineered solutions
Reviews work and projects for technical accuracy.
Performs other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or electrical engineering
- Ability to work independently on projects with minimal supervision
- Competent at troubleshooting machine and process issues, identify the root causes of the issues, and provide engineered solutions.
- Demonstrate a high level of creativity and ingenuity to provide reliable, cost-effective engineering solutions.
- Ability to review design drawings with respect to global dimensional and tolerance standards.
- Possesses strong organizational and project management skills
- Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks & AutoCAD) for designing and creating detailed 3D models and drawings.
- Strong understanding of mechanical principles, materials, and manufacturing processes.
- Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service

- Weldment design experience (preferred)
- Assembly design experience (preferred)
- Coil design experience (preferred)
- Electromagnet experience (preferred)
- Electromagnetic simulation (EMS) software/Flux analysis software experience (preferred)
- Experience in Finite Element Analysis.
- Effective communication skills for presenting ideas, concepts, and reports.
- Ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams and to communicate technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
