Material Manager

Responsibilities:

  • Lead, mentor, and manage a team.
  • Develop and implement strategic plans for material procurement, inventory management, and distribution in alignment with organizational objectives. Maintain optimal inventory levels to meet production demands while minimizing excess and obsolete stock. Monitor inventory levels and turnover rates, identifying trends and making recommendations for adjustments as needed. Implement inventory control systems and regular audits to track stock levels, anticipate shortages, and prevent overstocking. Investigate and resolve discrepancies between inventory records and physical counts, implementing corrective actions as necessary. Analyze root causes of inventory discrepancies and develop strategies to prevent recurrence. Prepare regular reports and analytics on inventory performance, including stock outs, and inventory aging.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline inventory management processes and improve efficiency.
  • Analyze market trends, supplier capabilities, and technological advancements to optimize sourcing strategies and mitigate supply chain risks. 
  • Regularly analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) and implement strategies to address areas of underperformance. Utilize data analytics and performance metrics to identify areas for improvement and implement best practices.
  • Implement lean manufacturing principles and best practices to streamline operations and improve productivity.
  • Continuously evaluate and improve material management processes to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and increase productivity
  • Counsels’ employees about work methods, discipline, safety, etc., Handle any questions or problems within the department. Ensure that all company policies are being adhered to. Sets clear performance objectives and provides regular feedback to team members. Review timecards to verify accuracy of information and performs performance reviews.
  • Identify training needs within the team and develop training programs to enhance technical skills and knowledge. Train employees on proper inventory management procedures, including data entry, handling of materials, and cycle counting.
  • Exemplary and consistent safety leadership. Ensuring that safety procedures are followed, ensuring risk control, safety rule expectations are followed, and focusing on safety innovations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement process improvements and system enhancements. Work closely with departments such as production, engineering, and finance to forecast material requirements and support operational objectives. 
  • Negotiate contracts and pricing with vendors to secure the best terms and conditions.
  • Monitor supplier performance, address issues, and foster strong relationships to secure a stable supply chain.
  • Participate in meetings, collaboration with others to maintain production timelines and expectations.
  • Develop and manage production schedules to ensure timely delivery of products.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements related to inventory management and control.
 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in supply chain management, procurement, or inventory control. Preferably in a manufacturing or production environment.
  • Strong understanding of inventory management principles, procurement processes, and logistics operations.
  • Proficiency in using ERP systems, inventory management software, data entry and Microsoft Office Suite; or related software
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret data, generate insights, and make data-driven decisions.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Performs other related duties as required.
