Dick Ptak, P.E. leads Winkle's team of specialists in magnetics engineering

Alliance, Ohio - Joseph T. Schatz, President and CEO of Winkle Industries Inc., is pleased to introduce Richard F. "Dick" Ptak, P.E., as Manager of Magnetics Engineering.

In his new position, Dick Ptak will lead the engineering team responsible for the design and development and support of all Winkle magnetic lifting devices, including remanufacture and certification services. The Winkle magnetics team develops special-purpose magnets for use in steel mills throughout North America, as well as lifting magnets for scrap metal, recycling and manufacturing applications. Dick brings more than 30 years of magnetics experience to the role, including many years in departmental management and leadership. Previous assignments also provided Dick with an extensive grounding in engineering requirements for varied production and power generation industries.

Through his responsibilities as a project engineer and consultant, Dick became a widely traveled professional, with field experience in steel mills and recycling yards throughout North America and the Pacific Rim. The scope of his knowledge and insights into varied environments and applications will be an invaluable asset to Winkle customers who require unique lifting solutions to optimize their operations.

A native of Cleveland, Ohio, Dick is known for his practical approach to engineering problems. Dick credits his "hands on" attitude to his upbringing as the son of millwright in a Cleveland steel mill, when he and his father enjoyed overhauling motors and electronic gear together, just to see how things work and make them work better.

"The science of magnetics is a core strength at Winkle," said Mr. Schatz. "We're very proud to have someone of Dick's stature and experience to lead our team as we pursue our mandate for innovation in lifting applications and services."
