HIGGINBOTHAM COMPANY EXPANDS “ONE SOURCE” MATERIAL HANDLING CAPABILITY WITH WINKLE

Birmingham, AL – G.T. Higginbotham Co., Inc., a leading provider of aftermarket services to power transmission and mill equipment to southern industry, has now expanded into a wide range of above-the-hook and below-the-hook crane capabilities as newly appointed agents for Winkle Industries.

Winkle, based in Alliance, Ohio, is the market leader in engineered material handling equipment and engineering services for mill-duty applications. “We were looking for an organization that would have a synergistic relationship with Winkle Industries. With Higginbotham, we have found it,” said Mark Volansky, Director of Sales & Marketing for Winkle Industries. In announcing the new relationship between the companies, Winkle President Joe Schatz said, “The principals at Higginbotham share Winkle’s commitment to simplifying our customers’ field service requirements for material handling equipment. They also have the experience and the resources to deliver on their commitments throughout the South. Winkle products and services will help them take a major step forward to the goal of one-stop service support.”

Higginbotham will be Winkle’s authorized agents in the states of Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, Florida and Tennessee.

Steve Higginbotham, President of Higginbotham Co., Inc.

According to Richard Black, Vice-President of Higginbotham Company, Winkle products and services are an excellent complement to his company’s strong position in crane drives and gearing, as well as process equipment used in steel, paper, textile and aluminum mills. “Winkle engineers, manufactures and installs both mechanical and electrical components above and below-the-hook. Believe me, one company capable of mechanical and electrical is rare. Most vendors are only equipped to do one thing in the process – one makes a hook block, another makes a spreader beam. We can be our customers’ one source for all material handling requirements including drives and brakes, mechanical and electrical devices and control equipment.”

Richard Black, Vice-President of Higginbotham Co., Inc.

Originating as a specialist in the manufacture and service of lifting magnets for the steel industry, Winkle has emerged as a single-source provider of engineered lifting devices, crane products and ground-mounted material handling equipment for a growing range of mill-duty applications. For Winkle customers, Higginbotham offers a continuing local presence for ongoing service. “With our six customer service staff in the region, plus the field service teams we represent, we can put a sales engineer onsite quickly to ensure the highest level of technical support.”
